—INVITATION TO BID—
The County of Gunnison, Colorado, will receive sealed bids for the Design and Construction of a 40’ x 60’ steel building at the Gunnison County Public Works Department, 811 Rio Grande Avenue, Gunnison, Colorado, until 4:00 p.m. June 5, 2008. The project is called the Facilities and Maintenance Storage Building Project. All bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the Gunnison County Public Works Conference Room, at the above place and time.
The pertinent features of this project include the design and construction of a 40’ x 60’ steel building to be used for storage of equipment, tools and furniture. The facility will be located on the south end of the Fred R. Field Western Heritage Center.
The Contract Documents will be available beginning on May 21, 2008 for a non-refundable cost of $20.00 per set. The Contract Documents may be obtained in person at the following location from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. weekdays:
Gunnison County Public Works Department, 811 Rio Grande Avenue, Gunnison, CO 81230, (970) 641-0044.
The Contract will be awarded to the lowest qualified bidder which in the sole discretion of the County is deemed to be in the best interest of the County. The County reserves the right to accept the bid by a competent bidder that in the County’s opinions will be in the County’s best interest. The County reserves the right to accept or reject any bid without disclosing the reason therefore.
No bids may be withdrawn after the opening of bids, without consent of Gunnison County, for a period of sixty (60) days after the scheduled time of opening of bids. The successful bidder or bidders will be required to furnish satisfactory performance bonds equal to the full amount of each bid or proposal.

HEARING DATE, TIME AND LOCATION: The Gunnison County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing FRIDAY, JUNE 6, 2008 at 3:45 p.m. in the Planning Commission Meeting Room, 2nd Floor, Blackstock Government Center, 221 N. Wisconsin, Gunnison, Colorado, to hear public comment concerning a land use change permit application. The applicants are Emmet and Gail Richards represented by David Leinsdorf and Dan Murphy.

REQUEST FOR WAIVERS OF GUNNISON COUNTY STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR
ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION FOR THE ACCESS ROAD TO WOMBLE TRACTS
AND FOR ACCESS TO OTHER PROPERTIES THROUGH WOMBLE TRACTS
HEARING DATE, TIME AND LOCATION: The Gunnison County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing, June 3, 2008 at 8:30 a.m., in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room of the Gunnison County Courthouse to hear public comment concerning an application for waivers of the Gunnison County Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction for The Timothy L. Michalek Family Trust. A copy of the request and supporting documentation can be reviewed at the Gunnison County Public Works Department at 811 Rio Grande, Gunnison, Colorado from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
PROPERTY LOCATION: 8218 Hwy 135, Almont, Colorado, approximately 8 miles north of Gunnison off of Highway 135.
PURPOSE OF WAIVER: To permit the subdivision of one parcel, 3.18 acres in size, into two single family lots. Lot 1 will be 1.50 acres and will contain the present residence and out buildings, Lot 2 will be 1.68 acres with a proposed single family residence with a garage and attached mother-in-law apartment.
PROPOSAL: The request is for the following waivers:
Width of Right of Way: A waiver of width for any portion of the road for which the platted width is less than sixty feet (60’).
Roadway Cross Section: The required section for a rural lane is identified in the Appendix of the County Standards. The existing “traveled” roadway width varies from 12 to 24 feet, with maintenance activities and driving patterns establishing the width, although in places it is wider than the minimum actual traveled. A variance of the County cross section standard, consisting of roadway width, crown slope, gravel depth, and drainage side ditches is requested.
Bridge Load Limits: There are two bridges on the access road to the property that have been in use for many years. The bridge over the Gunnison River is rated at 17-26-27 tons based on a recent inspection of the bridge by SEH, Inc. An inspection of the bridge has been done and the rating is available at the Gunnison County Public Works Department.
POSSIBLE ACTION: Formal action may be taken on the waivers required at this meeting.
