CBCS schedule will remain the same
The Gunnison RE1J school board voted to push the 2010 spring break for Gunnison schools back nearly a month, to the week of April 5, while keeping the schedule at Crested Butte Community School the same, with spring break starting April 12.
Previously, the school board had scheduled Gunnison schools’ spring break to coincide with the break at Western State College, where several students had a parent on the faculty. Spring break at the CBCS has traditionally been scheduled around the end of the ski season.
According to superintendent Jon Nelson, this year the change was made to give students more down time before and after the Colorado Student Assessment Program testing, which begin March 23.
“We’re just trying to find the best schedule for students,” he said.
