Gunnison Valley Futures presents study on local economy on Friday

Resident survey on web site

Gunnison Valley Futures (GVF) is a diverse group of local citizens who have come together with a common desire to examine Gunnison County’s economy. Their mission is “to identify the strengths and weaknesses of Gunnison County’s economy and their implications,” including the sociological, economic and environmental aspects of life in Gunnison.

Since October 2007 the group has begun with one end in mind—to engage Gunnison County residents in an open dialogue about the local economy by providing common data from which to begin the discussion. And, on Thursday, April 2 in the multi-purpose building at the rodeo grounds and again on Friday, April 3 at the Mountaineer Square Conference Center, the economic study report will be presented by Paul Holden of Enterprise Research Institute.
Holden was hired by Gunnison Valley Futures to conduct the study late last year. Both forums will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Additionally, the group has a web site with more information and also a survey to gather perceptions of residents. The group will also continue to use this web site to communicate with residents, at www.GunnisonValleyFutures.org.
Go to the web site for more information and details about the forum and to contact any of the GVF committee members.
GVF recently received approval for the necessary funding to begin the economic study from the William B. Endner Fund, an endowed component fund of the Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley.
