Farm-to-School News.  Have you heard??  CBCS school lunches are getting better and better!  Check out our the next TWO local foods days in November:  Tuesday, November 9:  Colorado Baked Potatoes with local beef Chili and Fresh D’Anjou Pears.  Tuesday, November 22:  Autumn Beef Stew with Parker Pastures Beef, Abundant Life Root Vegetables, Homemade Foccaccia, and Fresh D’ Anjou Pears.   As always, fresh salads made-to-order are available.  Support Paradise Food Project’s Farm-to-School program by encouraging your students to buy hot (nutritious, delicious) lunch on Local Foods Days!  Parents may join students for lunch – please call the school at 641-7720 to RSVP by 9 a.m. on the day you plan to come.
Crested Butte Kid’s Design-a-Tee Contest Winter 2010-2011 sponsored by Cottonwood Tees and The Trailhead Children’s Discovery Museum.  Kids 8 and younger are invited to enter.  Come to The Trailhead from Wednesday, November 10 to Sunday, November 14 to create your art entry.  Supplies will be provided.  Voting for the winning entry will happen online at www.cottonwoodtees.com from November 17 – 21.  The winning design with artist’s name and age will be printed on tee shirts available for purchase by all by December 6, 2010.  The winning artist will receive a FREE tee shirt and a chance at fame!  For more info go to www.cottonwoodtees.com or www.trailheadkids.org.
Create with Kelly at The Trailhead Children’s Discovery Museum.  Join Kelly, our resident artist, every Wednesday beginning at 10:00 a.m. for a special guided art activity.  The Trailhead is located in the Outpost Building next to the Adventure Park at the base of the ski area in Mt. Tumblebugs!  The playgrounds are buried and so it’s Tumblebugs time! Tumblebugs is a two hour play time for parents and children ages 0 – 3 years old. Come to Jerry’s Gym from 9:00 am – 11:00 am to run around and play with new friends and toys. This is a drop-in program, $5 per session, and discounted punch cards are available. Questions? New New New Storytimes at the Old Rock Library!  Mondays AND Fridays at 10:30 for ages 3 and up, and continuing Wednesdays at 11:15 for babies and toddlers. Library storytimes will highlight the 6 early literacy skills recommended by the American Library Association, as well as incorporate titles from the Children’s Book List by the Center on the Social and Emotional Foundations for Early Learning. After School KIDS PAINT Program!  This fall, The Pottery Place is offering complimentary beverages and snacks to kids who come in after school to paint pottery.  Starting directly after school M-F, kids ages 5 and up are invited to snack, socialize, and get creative painting pottery with artistic guidance from our staff.  Supervision and instruction is provided, and parents need not be present.  There is no additional cost for this program beyond the price of the chosen pottery pieces painted.  Call 349-2799 for more info.
