Silver Queen Lift opens this Saturday

And don’t forget: uphill traffic requires a pass

Cold temps and light snow are not stopping Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) from gearing up for the season. Paradise Lift opened as planned on Saturday, December 3, just in time for some light snow. And plans are in place for ongoing openings:
Wednesday, December 7: Ruby Road, Upper Keystone, Upper Park, Lower Twister and Big Al’s were pronounced ready to go.
Friday, December 9: Paradise Warming House opens with exciting new renovations, including a revamped menu. The kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and the bar will stay open until 3 p.m.

Also on Friday, Jefe’s opens its doors for the season. Head on over to grab some grub between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Saturday, December 10: The Silver Queen lift will be open for business. With the Silver Queen lift comes several runs, including Upper International, Lower International, Windy Gap, Silver Queen Road and Triangle.
If you’re heading to CBMR to skin up the mountain before or after hours, uphill passes are available at the main ticket office in the Adventure Center. Make sure to read the regulations you receive with your pass—if you see a flashing red light on tower 3 of the Red Lady Lift, avalanche work is under way, and you’ll want to know what runs are safe for use.
In general, uphill travel is limited to the top of open lifts. Call the information hotline (349-2323) or follow “cbpatrol” on twitter for the latest beta on terrain and avalanche control work.
Lastly, don’t forget that if it’s your birthday, you ski free that day (or, if you already have a pass, a friend skis free that day). If you’re 18 years of age or older, just bring a valid photo ID to the CBMR Adventure Center on the day you were born. Ah, to have a winter birthday.
