Rollover near Cottonwood Pass

Single-car, single-person accident with no injuries

A truck pulling an RV trailer eastbound on County Road 209 toward Cottonwood Pass rolled off the road on Friday, July 24. The accident occurred eight-and-a-half miles above Taylor Park Road, and there were no injuries.

According to Colorado State Patrol corporal Jason Sparks, the driver “moved to the right a little bit to give another RV some room to get by and the right wheel dropped off the side of the road and that pulled it over.”

Sparks did not respond directly to the accident, but said the responding officer’s report indicated the incident was a one-vehicle, one-person accident and there were no injuries.

“If I had to take anything away from this, if you move to the side of the road make sure it’s not a soft shoulder and know your vehicle and know its width,” Sparks said. The weight of an RV or heavy trailer could be enough to crumble a soft shoulder.

He added that ascending vehicles have the right of way.
