Crested Butte Film Festival this weekend

Film festivals are about sharing stories and connecting communities. Come find your story at the Crested Butte Film Festival, an international film festival that inspires, awakens and activates through a fun and intimate setting of quality screenings, stimulating discussions and authentic connections. The festival kicks off at 3 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 with a Bike Parade & Poutine Party, and culminates with a Closing Night Party at 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 29.

The four-day experience encompasses walkable venues at the Center, Majestic Theater and Public House, and the screening of over 100 films spanning the genres of narrative, documentary, outdoor adventure, children’s and shorts. Additional programming sprinkled throughout the festival includes free visiting director talks, panel discussions, lively parties and other social events. ActNow, our call-to-action program, empowers audiences to make a difference by providing post-film opportunities to convert inspiration into proactive, hands-on and immediate impactful action.

At the Crested Butte Film Festival, you are sure to discover the transformative power of stories while fostering incredible connections in an atmosphere of spontaneity fueled by great films, shared experiences, bikes, hikes and magical mountain scenery.

Youth Film Program

The Crested Butte Film Festival’s Youth Film Program on Sunday, September 29 at 3 p.m. at the Center offers a great international lineup of 21 educational, artistic and inspirational films for children that entertain, spark curiosity and bring awareness to worlds that may otherwise go unexplored. The films in the Youth Program not only entertain but ignite children’s imaginations and creativity. The program is free to those 18 and under.

After the program go “Beyond the Screen” with the Trailhead Children’s Museum offering hands-on activities that deepen the connection with the films they have just seen.

Our Student Screening Committee is comprised of middle and high school students who are interested in film, filmmaking, art and writing. Committee members screened more than 75 films this year and made film selections through an online rating process including written critiques. As our Festival matures we hope the kids will assume ownership of the Youth Film Program.
