Incumbents reelected to fire district board in Tuesday election

It wasn’t exactly a tsunami of a turnout but 164 people voted in Tuesday’s Crested Butte Fire Protection District election. With two seats up for election and four people on the ballot, the incumbents were chosen to retain their seats.

Unofficially, Ken Lodovico tallied 101 votes, Chris McCann received 84 while challenger Erin Croke garnered 69 votes and Sean Riley pulled in 65 votes.

In the last election in 2020 CBFPD chief executive officer Sean Caffrey said there were 212 total votes. The board members will be seated at the next meeting after official results are certified.

“I appreciate the support of the community in this election and understand there is a lot of work ahead of us,” commented top voter getter Lodovico. “The new campus has attracted some conversation lately and we are trying hard to build the best buildings within our budget. However, our main business is Life-Safety. We will continue to strive to keep our District a safe place for our residents and visitors.”  

Lodovico has been a member of the board since 2014 and McCann was seated in 2017.
