Mineral Point update
Town manager Dara MacDonald informed the council that staff is actively monitoring the Mineral Point affordable housing development progress. She said remediation work is continuing, and the main fences should be removed in the next several weeks. The contractors are telling town the goal is still to complete the project by the end of January. “Staff thinks that is pretty ambitious. But hopefully it happens.”
Electric dump trucks aren’t cheap
The town will be purchasing two electric dump trucks with the help of an $844,520 state grant. That grant will cover 67% of the projected $1.26 million total cost of the two vehicles. The town should receive them in 2026.
Save as You Throw bins are exchanged
Waste Management completed the bin drop for the new Save as You Throw program. Town has received only a few phone calls from residents unclear about the bin exchange or who received the wrong size bin. Either the town or Waste Management can help clear up any questions.
Poop issue goes to mediation
Town will be entering into mediation with the Mt. Crested Butte Water and Sanitation District over some financial disagreements. The disagreement needing mediation stems from some billing for Crested Butte’s wastewater treatment plant expansion of which a portion is used by the water and san district for processing solids. Town believes it is owed more than what the district says it will pay but the critical crux of the issue is over a five-year payment plan proposed by the district. Town is not willing to accept that long of a financing arrangement that they estimate will cost town citizens more than $400K.
