Beer and chili – or is it chili and beer?
The 18th annual Chili and Beer Festival will take place Saturday in Mt. CB starting at noon. If the weather is good, it’s a great afternoon of day drinking and chili eating. There will be live music and 24 breweries on hand, so spend a weekend afternoon at the Base Area with friends, suds and beans.
Plan ahead for any Kebler road trip
Going over Kebler Pass will not be easy for the next six weeks so plan ahead. Road construction will result in long delays during the week between now and mid-October. Basically the road will be closed for two hour intervals starting at 8 a.m. Then traffic will be allowed to flow for 30 minutes between each closure. The roadwork is taking place up by Splains Gulch so it should be easy to time coming from Crested Butte. It will be harder coming from Paonia. In September, the work will stop Fridays at 12:30 for the weekend. So enjoy the upcoming fall colors with hundreds of other leaf peepers – but plan ahead.
The Depot reopens with HCCA annual meeting

Then the High Country Conservation Advocates (HCCA) Annual Membership Meeting is this Sunday in the Depot. Please join the enviro watchdog at 5 p.m. at 716 Elk Avenue to learn more about HCCA’s most recent work, discuss our upcoming 40th anniversary, converse with the HCCA board and staff, and celebrate the reopening of the Depot.
