By Kendra Walker

After a delayed start due to slow snowmelt, Crested Butte Mountain Resort will open this Saturday for summer operations.

Mountain offerings will include access to CBMR’s 30+ miles of singletrack trails, hiking and scenic rides by way of the Red Lady Express and Silver Queen Express, bike park bike hauls via the Red Lady Express, archery, disc golf courses, Adventure Park activities including bungee trampoline, climbing wall and gem panning.

The Red Lady will be open for scenic rides and bike hauls from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 17. Starting on June 23, the Silver Queen will open for scenic rides from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every day, weather permitting.

“We will have a large chunk of the mountain available for biking on opening day,” said CBMR communications manager Julie Block. “Trails that will remain closed include all double-black diamond terrain (Timeline, Time Table and Captain Jack, etc.), as well as Wood’s Trail, Crusader and Prospector. Please note that trail status is subject to change, so this might alter slightly.”

Friday Twilight Hours from 4 – 7 p.m. will begin on June 30 and continue every Friday in July. Guests with a day ticket or pass can continue riding the Red Lady until 7 p.m. or purchase a discounted bike haul ticket at 4 p.m. An Adult Twilight ticket is $24, compared to a $60 day ticket.

The Pinnacle Race Series presented by Fox Racing also returns this year and will take place during Friday Twilight Hours. These downhill mountain bike races will feature a new course each week and allow for riders of varying ability levels to participate.

Butte 66 Bar & Grille and Woodstone Grill in the Grand Lodge will both be open for food and beverage on opening day. Butte 66’s happy hour will be available from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday through Friday. On June 30, the Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks will be open for summer food and beverage service for the first time since 2019. Coal Breaker Coffee Co. will also open June 30.

Coming up, the Live! At Mt. Crested Butte Wednesday night summer concert series will begin on June 21 and take place every Wednesday through August 9 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. And for the Fourth of July, CBMR is partnering with the Town of Mt. Crested Butte for a celebration at the base area, complete with food and drink specials, live music, laser and fireworks show.

The CBMR summer season will run through September 4, and then the mountain will be open only on Saturdays and Sundays through September 24.
