Crested Butte Community School hosts Spirit Week, homecoming

Pep rallies, new logo and a homecoming game

In 1997, high school classes returned to Crested Butte after a 44-year hiatus. And last year, the Crested Butte Community School hosted its first homecoming week in 45 years. With a huge turnout and school spirit at an all-time high at homecoming in its triumphant return, the school has decided to do it again.
The week, known as Spirit Week, kicks off Monday, September 16 and is full of activities building up to the homecoming soccer game on Friday, September 20 and includes the unveiling of the Titans new logo.
Students will be asked to dress in a variety of themes all week at school, with Pajama Day on Monday, Twin Day on Tuesday, Beach Day on Wednesday, Opposite Day on Thursday and finally, Crazy Titan Spirit Day on Friday.
The school will host a pep rally on Thursday, September 19 during lunch to fire up the school and community for the high school volleyball match that afternoon against Sanford at 4 p.m.
On Friday Spirit Week comes to a climax, with the homecoming soccer game at Rainbow Field at 4 p.m. Elementary students and their parents are encouraged to join in a bike parade from the school to the field, starting at 3:45 p.m.
The Titan Booster Club will be in full force at the pavilion, selling burgers and hot dogs to fans as the Titans take on the Telluride Miners. Kick-off for the varsity game is at 4 p.m., with the JV game slated to start at 5:30 p.m.
All Titan athletic supporters are then asked to return to Mighty Mt. Olympus on Saturday, September 21 as the volleyball team hosts the Sargent Farmers at 11 a.m. to bring Spirit Week to a (hopefully) triumphant close.
