Academy middle school runner remains undefeated for season

Matt Galley heads to nationals

Crested Butte Academy middle school cross country athlete Matt Galley remains undefeated for the 2007 fall cross country season.

Galley competed at the Colorado/Rocky Mountain AAU District Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 10 in Brighton, Colorado. He won the 14 years boys four-kilometer race in 15.12 minutes. Leading from the start, Galley dominated the race to finish almost 30 seconds ahead of his nearest competition.
“He did an awesome job and was running to beat a set time,” said cross country director Trent Sanderson, who is thrilled with the development of his athlete.
“There is a good chance that Matt will finish the season undefeated,” Sanderson said.
After the weekend’s great result, the athletic student has now qualified in the top 20 for the AAU Nationals at Virginia Beach, Virginia, on December 1, to compete against the best runners in the country.
