Titan hoops look for tickets to Great Eight

Girls and boys play in Gunnison Saturday

It’s time to pack the house at the Gunnison High School gym! Both the Titans boys’ and girls’ high school basketball teams are headed to the Regional Tournament at the Gunnison High School gym on Saturday, March 8.

The girls face La Veta at 10 a.m. and the boys tip off against Creede is at 11:30 a.m.
Both games are rematches of last year’s Regionals when La Veta and Creede sent the Titans packing but this year looks to be different.
The Lady Titans finished the regular season with a 14-2 record, the Mountain League title and a second-place finish at Districts. They have their hands full on Saturday as La Veta comes in with a 20-1 record.
The boys ended their season 12-4 and finished in second place at Districts as well. They beat Creede twice this season and look to finish them off for good with a win at Regionals.
Huge fan support could be the final ingredient to the winning recipe for the Titans teams this Saturday.
If they win, they advance to the Great Eight 1A state tournament for the first time in Titans hoops history.
“We would sure like to encourage the whole town of Crested Butte to come down to both the girls game at 10 a.m. and our game,” says boys’ head coach Robin Loyed.
