Local firefighters respond to structure fire in Buckhorn Ranch

Cause under investigation

Crested Butte firefighters responded to a house fire in the Buckhorn Ranch subdivision south of Crested Butte Saturday afternoon. No one was injured in the blaze that damaged a house under construction.

Crested Butte Fire Protection Chief Ric Ems says the fire started on the outside of the house at 324 N. Avion Dr. The flames were hot enough to break some windows and cause smoke and heat damage inside the home. Ems said the house was just about to have drywall installed.
Firefighters were paged at 12:58 a.m. and left the scene about three hours later.
Ems said the cause of the fire was still under investigation but that it was accidental in nature.
