CBMR extends lift service, adds Bike Mountain Card

“It’s great to see increased traffic on the Mountain”

It’s tough to beat sunny summer afternoons on the mountain, whether you’re getting in a round of Frisbee golf or sessioning gravity-fed mountain bike trails. Starting Saturday, July 10 the stay on the hill will be a little sweeter—and longer—as Crested Butte Mountain Resort is extending the operating hours of the Red Lady Express lift to 4 p.m. six days a week. On Wednesdays, the lift will run Twilight hours, until 7 p.m.. The Silver Queen will still close at 2:30 p.m.

Also, available immediately, the resort is adding a Bike Mountain Card to its line of pass products. For $99, you get five days of lift riding throughout the summer.
CBMR director of resort services Nick Herrin said the new offerings come in response to feedback from the community and guests.
“We have received a lot of feedback from the biking community as well as the Frisbee golf crew wanting to spend more time on the mountain,” Herrin said. “This move really came from the community feedback and listening to our guests. Our goal is to make the great trails the bike crew has built up for the past few years available to as many people as possible, for as long as possible.”
Herrin said the new Bike Mountain Card was created because “we have also heard a need for a pass product similar to our mountain card products in the winter, or some type of punch card.”
Meanwhile, the CBMR trails crew continues to hammer away at new singletrack and gravity-fed options.
CBMR’s Mountain Sports Team assistant director Christian Robertson is helping lead the trail-building charge. He provided a quick update on current projects.
“We have begun Mineral Point. The trail crew has been working hard to get this open and the local riders are excited to help out in hopes of opening it in the next few weeks,” said Robertson. “We are also working with the Forest Service on an approval to begin construction of Psycho Rocks and if all goes well, it will be ready to open before the end of the season. It has been great to see increased traffic on the mountain and our trail crew is motivated to continue to grow and maintain both cross-country and downhill trails.”
It’s a mountain biking bonanza up on the hill right now, and with the new trails coming and the Pinnacle Series kicking off July 15, there’s lots to look forward to. Enjoy…
