07/28/10, Officers received a call concerning a possible restraining order violation. Investigations revealed that the act did not constitute a violation.
07/29/10, Officers received a call concerning possible blood-soaked clothing near a mine. Investigations revealed that the stain was just that—redwood stain.
07/31/10, Officers investigated a single-vehicle traffic accident on County Road 25, Pine Creek Road. No citation was issued, as unexpected weather hazards were the contributing element to the accident.
Officers received a report of illegal dumping at a residence near Sage Lane. Investigations revealed that person(s) unknown had dumped an excessive amount of trash in a private receptacle. This case is currently under investigation.
08/02/10, Officers received a call concerning possible domestic issues north of Gunnison. Investigations revealed that there were no laws broken; however, emotions were running high. Later the same day, officers were called concerning the same involvements as before but this time the issues were about child custody concerns. Such issues were deferred to the courts.
Officers responded 2.5 miles north of Gunnison for a possible domestic situation. Investigations revealed that no criminal act had taken place.
Officers received a call concerning the welfare of an individual who was lying in at a campsite within the Almont Campground. Investigations revealed that the individual had taken an overdose of medication, drank an excessive amount of alcohol and cut his wrist. The 42-year-old Ponca City, Oklahoma male was transported to the Gunnison Valley Hospital for treatment and a mental health evaluation was conducted. Subsequent to the evaluation, the subject was transported to a Grand Junction mental health facility.
Officers and EMS responded to the Arimitage Springs regarding a report concerning an ATV accident with injuries. Investigations revealed that a 58-year-old Pretty Prairie, Kansas male had rolled his 4-wheeler on a private road. The victim was airlifted from the scene by Flight for Life.
08/03/10, Officers were dispatched to a residence west of Gunnison for a family squabble over an estate settlement. The situation was settled without arrests.
Officers were notified that the escapees from an Arizona prison might have been at a guest ranch in the Taylor Park area. Investigations revealed that they were not.
08/04/10, Officers and Fire responded to an address near Winze Road concerning a structure fire. Investigations revealed that the fire was accidental. There was excessive damage done to a garage/shop.
Officers assisted an individual who had vehicle problems near the top of Hartman Rocks.
08/05/10, The Gunnison County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports concerning e-mails requesting monies from relatives and friends. The scam starts by posing the sender as a friend or relative who is in dire straights in a foreign country and needs the money to get home. It appears that whoever is conducting the scam has obtained the e-mail address book of the individual who has credibility.
Officers assisted the Gunnison Police Department with locating a suspect.
08/06/10, Officers arrested an 18-year-old Gunnison female on two warrants, one out of Gunnison and the other, Montrose. The arrest took place within the courthouse.
08/07/10, Officers stopped a driver who they saw disregard a stop sign at an intersection at County Road 10 and Highway 135. Subsequently, the 18-year-old female driver was arrested for failure to stop at a stop sign, violation of a bail bond condition, violation of a protection order and underage consumption of ethyl alcohol. A 20-year-old was also arrested for violation of a protection order and underage possession/consumption of ethyl alcohol.
Officers arrested a 34-year-old Gunnison male for driving while ability impaired, child abuse without injury, possession of an open bottle of alcohol while driving and operating a vehicle with defective taillights.
08/08/10, Officers and EMS responded to the Silver Plume in Pitkin regarding a possible heart attack victim.
