WSCU XC teams finish strong

Headed to South Central Regional Championships in November

There weren’t too many surprises at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. As projected, the Western State Colorado University (WSCU) women took second and the men took third.
Sophie McNeely (senior, Littleton, Colo.) was the top runner for the Mountaineer women, posting a time of 22:14.70. McNeely finished third overall and was just one second slower than second-place finisher Kelly Lamb of Adams State.
For the Mountaineer men, Ian Butler (sophomore, Lakewood, Colo.) was the top finisher with a time of 25:29.70. Butler finished fifth overall in the men’s eight-kilometer race.
The women’s and men’s team titles both went to Adams State. Colorado School of Mines, with their best male team in recent history, was second in the race for the men’s team title.
The RMAC is one of the best cross-country conferences in the nation. Multiple teams are nationally ranked on both the men’s and women’s side.
The South Central Regional Championships will take place on November 3 in Denver. The Mountaineers will look to knock off their RMAC rivals at regionals.
