WSCU women fall to Ft. Lewis Skyhawks

Return to action at home on January 4

Jade McIntosh (So., Colorado Springs) paced the Mountaineers with 12 points in a 59-49 loss to the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks on Monday night. WSCU (1-9, 1-5 RMAC) got off to a fast start and were ahead by 11 points within the first five minutes of the game. Unfortunately the lead didn’t hold and Fort Lewis (3-6, 2-3 RMAC) clawed back to take a two-point lead at the break.


The Skyhawks outpaced the Mountaineers in the second stanza by eight points. Erika Richards of FLC led all scorers with 13 points. Christie Groh collected 10 rebounds for the Skyhawks. Natalie Markovich (So., Chandler, Ariz.) was the other Mountaineer to score in double figures. Markovich scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting.


WSCU will have the holidays off before taking on Colorado School of Mines on January 4 in Gunnison. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
