Gothic Mountain Tour ski event to be held this weekend

The Gothic Mountain Tour, formerly known as the Super Tour, is this Saturday, February 16 and should not be missed. And due to public demand, there are two distances this year.
The shorter course (16 miles and 2,000-plus vertical feet) will begin at the Gothic Road Trailhead and head into Gothic; from there it will climb to the 403 to the Top of the World, down the Washington Gulch Road and 403 intersection, down to Slate River Road and out to Gunsight Bridge to Mike’s Mile, finishing at the Yurt. It will begin at 8 a.m. and the cut-off in Gothic is 9 a.m.
The longer course (20 miles and 3,300-plus vertical feet) will start in town behind the Crested Butte Community School, then head up to Crested Butte Mountain Resort base area. Racers will go up Warming House Hill to the top of Painter Boy then down to Gold Link. From there they’ll leave CBMR property to Indian Trail to the valley floor then up the valley to the town of Gothic. Racers will climb to the 403 to the Top of the World, down the Washington Gulch road and 403 intersection, down to Slate River Road and out to Gunsight Bridge to Mike’s Mile, finishing at the Yurt. The long course race will start at 6 a.m. and there are two cut-offs: top of Painter Boy lift at 7:30 a.m. and Gothic townsite at 9 a.m.
Required Equipment: This is a backcountry course. Shovels, probes, beacons and full skins required. CORSAR cards and required and are sold at the Crested Butte Nordic Center.

Suggested Equipment: This is a self-supported race. Plan to bring your own food, water and appropriate clothing.
Registration: On-line only and will close at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 15. There is no day of registration and there is no registration at the Nordic Center.

Bib Pick-Up and Beacon Check: Saturday, February 16 (day of race) at the Nordic Center. Long course: 5 to 5:30 a.m. and short course 5:30 to 7 a.m. This is mandatory!

Party: Ongoing once the first racer finishes at the yurt until 3 p.m. 

Parking: Long course: park at the Community School; shuttle will be provided to your car from Magic Meadows. Short course: park at the Gronk; shuttle will be provided to Gothic Road in time for the start. This van will leave at 7:20 a.m. sharp.
