WSCU Mountain Sports Park & Pipe team hits Durango for slopestyle event

Bring home some hardware

This past weekend the WSCU Mountain Sports Park & Pipe Team traveled southwest to Durango where they competed in a slopestyle event at Purgatory / Durango Mountain Resort. There were nine competitors including four skiers and five snowboarders who entered into different categories of the slopestyle event held in the Paradise Terrain Park.
On the morning of the comp on Sunday there was about a foot of new snow on the ground and more falling from the sky. The conditions were somewhat adverse for a slopestyle competition but everyone had fun and made the best of it.
The setup of the course included a wallride with a railing, a down-flat box, a down-flat-down kink rail and a long up rail at the top section followed by two jumps. It was a little tough to get the speed needed to throw tricks in the air but we still held our own even if we had to hit the baby-sized jump on the side.
It turned out to be a really fun day as it cleared up in the afternoon and we were all shredding powder after the park. Many WSCU Mountain Sports Park athletes went home with some new hardware.
