Solstice showdown a huge success
This past weekend, the Crested Butte Nordic Team hosted more than 200 racers from around the state, juniors and Olympic hopefuls alike, on our new homologated racecourse. The event drew tons of people and was a huge success. Thanks to all who came out, volunteered, and supported.
Mountain Store Citizens Series Race #2 this Saturday, December 28
This weekend’s MSCSR is freestyle and will take place on the Bench above town. There is a 2.5-kilometer race for children as well as 5- and 10-kilometer races. Registration is at the Nordic Center at 2nd and Whiterock from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The 2.5-kilometer race starts at 9:30 on the Bench and the 5- and 10-kilometer races start at 10 a.m. Cost for registration is $12 for adults, $10 for Crested Butte Nordic season pass holders, and $2 for children $12 and under.
New Year’s Eve yurt dinner and party
Ring in the New Year in a spectacular backcountry setting at our ski or snowshoe-in Magic Meadows yurt. The gourmet, five-course dinner, with libations and music, is sold out, but there are still spaces available for the party that starts at 10:30 p.m. The cost is $35 and includes trail pass, beer, wine and a celebratory toast at midnight with DJ-supplied high-energy music.
CBNT coaches to host classic skiing clinic this Sunday, December 29
Nordic skiers of all abilities are invited to join the Crested Butte Nordic Team coaching staff for a half-day clinic on classic skiing. This clinic will be geared toward improving technique and efficiency on skis. The program will be tailored to offer guidance for skiers from novices to advanced, and rental equipment will be available. The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. on Sunday, December 29 at the Crested Butte Nordic Center. There is no preregistration necessary but a donation to the Crested Butte Nordic Team of the participant’s choice is suggested.
Learn to skate ski… for free!
Have you seen those folks out there skating around on the Nordic Trails? Want to give it a try? This Thursday, January 2, come out and take a free clinic with Crested Butte Nordic’s finest ski instructors. This clinic is for never-evers only! Space is limited to 12 people so make sure to reserve your spot by Tuesday, December 31. Discounted rentals are available as well.
