Chamber director to step down

On board until May

By Mark Reaman

After about a year in the job, Crested Butte-Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce executive director Eliza Cress has submitted her letter of resignation. Her resignation will take place in May.

Cress told the board at the Tuesday morning meeting that she will be pursuing a master’s degree in landscape planning and design at the Conway School in Easthampton, Mass. She stepped into the chamber’s executive director role when Dave Ochs resigned to take the helm of the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association.

“When I took this position a year ago I was thrilled to have the chance to work for the town, individuals, and businesses that make up the unique character of this community,” Cress said. “It was the combination of those things that I fell in love with upon moving here four years ago.”

The board has placed an ad searching for Cress’ replacement.
