Houck and Smith take commanding lead in early county voting results

Gunnison County has posted its initial vote count (82%) and in the race for county commissioner both Jonathan Houck and Liz Smith have a big lead over challengers Dave Taylor and Trudy Vader.

With about 10,000 votes tallied, District 2 incumbent Houck has 6,294 votes (63%) to Vader’s 3,612 (37%) while Smith has tallied 6,172 (61%) to Taylor’s 3,894 (38%).

Gunnison County voted for John Hickenlooper for senate with Hick receiving 63% of the votes to Cory Gardner’s 35%. Diane Mitsch Bush tallied 63% of the votes in Gunnison County for the Third Congressional District to Lauren Boebert’s 34%.

For the top of the ticket, Joe Biden received about 65% of the early votes to Donald Trump’s 33%. Kanye West did receive 16 early votes from Gunnison County voters.

District 61 State Representative Julie McCluskie has garnered 70% of the vote over challenger Kim McGahey. While in use House District 59, Barbara McLachlan has 58% of the voter over Marilyn Harris.
