Mt. Crested Butte narrows down town manager candidates

Four applicants under consideration

Over the last several months, the Mt. Crested Butte town council has been in search of a new town manager to help guide the town’s future, and this week narrowed down the pool of applicants and interviewed four potential candidates for the job.

The candidates interviewed this week by the town council include Mt. Crested Butte’s current interim town manager and community development director Carlos Velado; Jason Dennison, from Fort Collins; Ed Cannon from Wellington; Isa Reeb from Denver.

Last September, Joe Fitzpatrick retired after 16 years as town manager for Mt. Crested Butte. Following his departure, Velado took over the role as interim town manager and has put his hat in the running for the permanent position.

The town posted the job announcement in October, which includes a starting salary of $110,000-130,000 and the possibility of housing as part of the town’s Employer-assisted Housing Benefit Program.

Following this week’s interviews the town council plans to announce the finalist candidates at the next town council meeting on Tuesday, February 2. The council also hopes to conduct town site visits with each finalist before deciding on the hire.
