Mt. CB resurfacing tennis court for pickleball next week

Construction could take 10 days

Pickleball is coming soon to Mt. Crested Butte. The town is scheduled to begin the resurfacing of both its tennis courts on Monday, July 24, or Tuesday, July 25, with one of the courts being marked/reoriented for pickleball.

According to town manager Carlos Velado, “One court (lower) will be resurfaced and painted to accommodate up to four pickleball courts. The second court (upper) will be resurfaced and painted to remain a tennis court.”

Velado said that the lower court is currently closed for some pre-construction work. The upper court is open for both tennis and pickleball as the court is currently striped for both.

According to Velado, the contractor said they might need 10 days to complete the project depending on the weather and the scheduling needs of Town given the wedding garden and events. “After that the courts can reopen,” he said.
