Kempin continues as mayor
Newly-elected council members Nicholas Kempin, Bobbie Sferra, Valeda Scribner and Bruce Nation were officially sworn into office during the November 19 Mt. Crested Butte council meeting. The council also elected Kempin as mayor and council member Steve Morris as mayor pro tem, and divided up various board committee openings.

The Town of Mt. Crested Butte will be working with the texting service TextMyGov to help relay regular and emergency notifications to people who sign up for the service. “This will help us relay regular and emergency notifications to locals and visitors,” said communication officer Marisa Maudsley, noting examples of updates such as emergencies, roadwork, big snowstorms and trash reminders on holidays. The council approved the agreement and the town will move forward with starting the service in the new year.
Fun fact
According to town capital projects manager Jeff Smith, the town of Mt. CB maintains 15 miles of road in the town. The winter maintenance crews are already hard at work out there!
