Paradise Park housing apps pour in at last second

In the end, there was significant interest in Crested Butte’s newest affordable housing project after all. More than 35 applications came in for the nine Paradise Park workforce housing units located on the east side of town by the Rec Path bridge. Town officials are combing through the applications and hope to delineate the fully qualified applications by the end of the week. Crested Butte housing director Erin Ganser said she expects between 30 and 35 applications will make the qualification cut and the hope is to conduct a lottery for the units on January 22.

“We got a deluge of applications at the end, which was not really surprising, but we are now working our way through them,” she told the council at the January 6 meeting. Applications were accepted through December 31.

Hundreds register for CB’s skier parking near bus stops

Close to 300 skier parking permit inquiries were received by the town’s parking vendor, Interstate Parking, about so-called skier parking near Mountain Express bus stops along the Sixth Street corridor. As of mid-December, 226 had been approved and entered into the system. The system allows residents of Gunnison County to park in that area for more than the two-hour parking limits that apply to out of county residents.
