2025 Flauschink poems – by Sherrie VanDerVoort

Hello and welcome to this spring

celebration

Fifty-seven years of George Sibley’s

creation!

Flauschink began back in sixty-

nine,

The purpose was “fun,” and

community time.

So polka and tip one! Get out there

and dance…

The Polka band’s great and now is

your chance!

This annual event started for a good reason,

Once winter is over we FLUSH

OUT the season.

Our winter was odd (odd as could

be)…

But the royals didn’t mind, for they

love to ski.

King Kuby! Queen Jo! You have

honored our town,

We couldn’t be happier that you

took on “The Crown”

So please make your way to the

stage if you will

Could it be possible you’ve both

had your fill?!!

You made all the rounds, you had a

great reign,

From skiing to parades to dealing

with fame!

But here is the deal, so listen

carefully…

“Has-beens have more fun” (just

wait and you’ll see)!

Time stops for no one, and your

time is up…

Let’s all do a toast, please raise up

your cup!

Yes, it’s that time! Your crowns

must come off

The robes come off too (we know

that it’s tough)!

So thank you again, you sure made

us proud

Your reign was a hit, just listen to

this crowd!

The QUEEN:

Our soon-to be Queen, we’re sure

you’ll agree,

Is classy and caring (she’s also

pretty)!

She’s lived in this town for quite a

long time

And wears a bright smile, she’s one

of a kind.

She has lots of family, they’re

always around,

Up on the slopes is where they’ll

be found.

Dedication describes our new

Royal-to-be

She sure loves to polka as you will

soon see

A very fine lady (both inside and

out)

As Queen she’ll bring Flauschink

some much-needed clout!

This gal fell in love with the town of

CB

And wears a big smile (for a Queen

this is key)…

One of her relatives once wore the

crown,

A patroller (in the sixties) and he’s

still around.

This lady I speak of works hard at

the school,

Teaches students the Polka, now

isn’t that cool?

She helps her kids find a college

and a major

She’ll make a fine queen I’m willing

to wager…

Our gal is a skier and so is her

honey

She’s a big fan of polka and loves

her dog, Sunny.

The person of our fancy is worthy

indeed,

So please give it up for queen

Jennifer Read!

The KING:

And now for the king who’s worthy

as can be,

He’s never been shy, a born leader

you see…

A big part of this town and its

heritage too

Our choice is quite worthy, we’re

telling you true!

Our soon-to-be Royal is a good

friend to all

He works very hard, and his heart

is not small.

Our soon-to-be king is respectful

and fair…

You’d think from his smile, he

hasn’t a care.

This man loves to ski… he’s a guy

on the go…

He married his gal (and can she

ever sew)!

A big fan of music, he used to spin

the vinyl

Then took to the stage and I think

this job’s final!

From “air-chair” to theatre,

creativity’s his life

He has a sweet dog and he’s crazy

for his wife.

Such a snazzy dresser…a class act

for sure,

He loves the Gold Marmots (as long

as they’re pure)!

Quite good at improv, an

actor…you know!

He’ll make a great king, let’s get on

with the show!

This ever-smiling redhead has

probably caught your eye

So now can you guess? (At least

give it a try)!

He’ll soon wear the crown and his

reign will begin,

Our new king this year is Alec

Lindeman!
