CBCS Homecoming!
The Crested Butte Titans Homecoming is this week with plenty of high school sports action on tap. The Titans soccer team will host the Telluride Miners on Friday, September 25 at Rainbow Field with the varsity at 4 p.m. and the JV at 6 p.m. The annual Titan Fun Run is Saturday, September 26 at 9 a.m. at the school, registration opens at 8 a.m. and the run is free. The sports action culminates with Titans volleyball in mighty Mt. Olympus on Saturday starting at 11 a.m.
St. Mary’s Garage opening
St. Mary’s Garage will be reopening for your fall/winter clothing needs on October 1 at their new location, 300 Belleview, Unit 2. Across from the sledding hill and the skating rink at the south end of 3rd Street. Open hours will be Tuesday and Thursday 4:00 to 5:30. Free clothing and bedding.
Blue Door Studio tour
Carol Connor is hosting a studio tour on Saturday, September 26th, from 1-7 p.m. Blue Door Studio is located near Jack’s Cabin, at 173 County Rd. 749, Almont. Art is available, from small prints and assemblages to large paintings. For questions or directions, call 970-641-3153.
Trail reopening
Just in time for some peak fall colors, the new Gunsight Connector Trail is reopening this weekend. It has been closed to accommodate some ranching activities but the time has come to let the bikers and hikers back on the trail. So get out and enjoy!
Music for kids at Old Rock on Sunday
Eric West will perform Music for Kids at the Old Rock Library on Sunday, September 27 at 2 p.m. West’s musical act is a fun, audience-involved musical adventure. With his trunk filled with homemade, ethnic and “found” instruments, dancing lumberjacks, and puppets, Eric gets everyone involved. Along with his guitar, banjo and repurposed instruments (e.g. the pasta pot guitar and pan-jo,) his original and traditional songs are sure to delight. Join others at the library for this free children’s program sponsored by the Crested Butte Friends of the Library.
Call for SonofaGunn writers
The Gunnison Arts Center is searching for writers to help in creating the script for SonofaGunn 2016. Don’t miss this opportunity to be a part of bringing this fun, family-friendly valley tradition to life. The theme for 2016 is “Gunnigan’s Island.” Shelly Pierson will direct.
