Reimbursement agreement calls for $99,000
The Crested Butte town council will consider a draft agreement over a payment plan between the town and the developers who had proposed the Foothills of Crested Butte annexation.
Fairways GH Paradise, LLC owes the town approximately $99,000 for work done by town staff during annexation negotiations. Those annexation negotiations have never concluded and the annexation proposal is in limbo.
Under the proposed deal, Fairways would pay the town $4,100 per month for two years. Payments would begin under the proposal on May 5. If payments are kept current, no more interest will be added to the tally.
The town currently has a lien through the Gunnison County Treasurer’s office on the Fairways land that the developers had hoped to annex to Crested Butte. But in terms of being paid back in case Fairways declares bankruptcy, the town would be subordinate to the bank that lent the developers money for the property and the former owner of the property, Bill Trampe, who is apparently still owed funds from the developers.
Town Manager Susan Parker said that before any further annexation meetings could take place, full payment of the amount due to the town would have to be finalized.
The council will consider the proposal at its Monday evening meeting on May 3.
