Drive a Tesla
The Gunnison County Electric Association (GCEA) is excited to announce that its new CB South EV Charging Station has been energized and they are having a ribbon cutting event to celebrate, on Thursday, July 15 at 3:30 pm. The co-op will be offering test drives in the Tesla and Chevy Bolt and handing out free Third Bowl ice cream. The event is right before the CB South Farmer’s Market, so you can enjoy two events in one afternoon.
Recycle the hard stuff
Sustainable Crested Butte is hosting a recycling event every third Saturday of the month, starting this Saturday July 17, from noon to 5 p.m. It will take place at the Crested Butte Community School parking lot. For a list of recyclable materials, check out the ad on page 52 of the Crested Butte News or go to their website at sustainablecb.org.
CB Wildflower Fest continues through the weekend
The annual Crested Butte Wildflower Festival is 35 years old and is right now taking place for the summer of 2021. And what a show the flowers are providing this year. The festival tours and workshops will continue through July 18. Stop by headquarters at The Depot on Elk Avenue in Crested Butte to find out what tours are still available and share the magic and beauty of our wildflowers. The colors are absolutely stunning this year!
GMUG to host public SBEADMR and Taylor Park field trips
The Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison (GMUG) National Forests will be hosting its annual Public Field Trips for the Taylor Park Vegetation Management Project (Taylor Park) on July 20. The field trip provides an opportunity for interested individuals to participate in discussions and engage with GMUG staff, adaptive management group members and science teams on topics including the implementation timeline, temporary roads, treatment unit prescriptions and resource concerns relevant to Taylor Park. Local Vocals Concert coming to the Gunnison Arts Center
Experience a unique concert as local singer-songwriters take the stage to combine their stories, inspiration, music and talent. Hosted by singer-songwriter Chris Coady, this evening will feature beloved local performers’ newest creations. Catch up with Alan Wartes and Issa Forrest, Patrice Palmer and Evelyn Roper. Sit back in the historic Black Box Theatre, or watch live on Zoom, and enjoy an exciting evening of diverse musical artistry. The event takes place Friday, July 23 with the concert starting at 8 p.m.
