Local tennis youth take talents on road

Dumas has prolific debut

On Friday, August 12, Jamey Spahn and Noah Dumas participated in the Aspen Elks Jr. Satellite tennis tournament in Aspen. This was Dumas’s first-ever tournament and he proved that he is ready for more tournament competition.
Dumas won his first round match, in the 12 & under division, against Aspen local Harry Kahn, 7-5, 6-3. The next day he played Daniel Morozov from Joliet, Ill.; after more than three and a half hours Morozov won the epic match 3-6, 7-6 (8), 7-5.
Spahn is continuing on her road to success as she won her first round match, in the 14 & under division, against Dairinn Bowers, 4-6, 6-1, 6-3. On Saturday, August 13, she went against the number one seed and eventual champion Carolena Campos and pushed her to a third set. Spahn played well but after more than two and a half hours lost the match 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Look for more results as both competitors will continue playing tournaments throughout the summer and fall.
