Choices, woo-woo…and a sound bath?

Taking a planned break from what appears to be one of the finest Crested Butte spring weeks in memory — nothing is wrong, and everything is right with 72 degrees and sunny in CB — Diane and I instead embraced red rocks and 95 degrees in Arizona. Not a great choice in hindsight but I’m a believer in the Universe and frankly, brutal heat is such an unusual experience for us, it has been a blessing…and during late morning rides as the thermometer starts to climb, an adventure.

Choices.

A working vacation in some place pretty, is a pretty good choice. So is taking advantage of what a unique place offers. In this case that includes things like a wider variety of dining choices, a swimming pool and lots and lots of trails. Sedona is a sweet place and of course there is some woo-woo that defines the locale as well. So why not take advantage?

Hitting a few vortex areas, I felt I was astral projecting in the heat. I wish I could have astral projected out of aisle six in Safeway where food prices are out of this world. Things are getting really pricey and for some reason I thought Donald said they’d all go down on day one when he took office. Oops. Gas prices are hitting the credit card hard out here in the desert as we discovered on the drive down. Given Sedona’s reputation, I can also predict the future and my little third eye says gas prices will be higher on the way back. Ouch. Thanks Donald!

We did take a meditative crystal sound bath to get out of the heat the other evening. That sounds woo-woo and it is. But it was pretty great. The depth and complexity of sounds made from crystal bowls took us to another plane. Breathing deep, I wasn’t thinking of Iran or $5/gal gas or summer wildfires. It was nice.

Writing a few follow-up stories from Crested Butte this week, I feel the valley might benefit from a communal sound bath given some recent public choices.

The woman who stepped into the public arena two weeks ago heard from those she criticized from what I would call an ignorant POV (I think part of it was directed specifically at me and I didn’t even bother responding). She is still getting blowback. Welcome to CB.

The fire district and search and rescue appear to have reached an agreement over something I feel shouldn’t have even been a thing in this plane of consciousness. And while honestly not at the point I think it should be, basically a 40-year lease is way better than where it started, and those involved will all be in the nursing home when it comes up again. It’s fair to move that one along.

The library district and CB South POA issue over the proposed new library facility is still a kerfuffle when I don’t think it needs to be. Everyone involved should take a deep breath through their root chakra. The ‘he said that’ and ‘they meant that’ BS is tainting what most everyone believes is a good end result — a cool library in a local population center in the North Valley. As I suggested before and will again – lose the lawyers, bring in a facilitating guide, find alignment with the higher truths and actually talk like we claim we do in the valley. Jump into the deep sound bath, people! The crux point appears to be stuffing eight workforce apartments on a tight site.  Fortunately, that isn’t part of the first phase of this proposal and there is no approved permit to allow them. Push that issue back behind the fourth astral plane and deal with it when it becomes real in this physical dimension. In the meantime, find the common flow and let everyone see the plan and maybe make it better with unique insights, and move on. A library is a really good thing. But as I’ve mentioned before, how we get one still matters.

Choices:

Criticize the foundation of a community and expect blowback. Start a war in Iran, expect gas and food prices to skyrocket and get blowback. Promise a deal and change the understood terms, expect blowback. Stop communicating between neighbors, expect blowback. Write an editorial after a sound bath, expect blowback on the woo-woo. Still, I recommend a communal sound bath. It’s pretty good at clearing the head and making choices easier and clearer.

Looking forward to 65 degrees next week…
