Mt. Crested Butte police served a major search warrant at a Crested Butte South home on Wednesday, May 14. Police spent five and a half hours searching the premises located at 454 Teocalli Road. They began the search at 9 a.m.
Charges have not been filed against anyone but some items were seized in the search and sent to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation for analysis. That analysis is expected to take several weeks.
According to Mt. Crested Butte police chief Nate Stepanek, the investigation started in early May. While Mt. Crested Butte was the lead agency on the search, they had assistance from Crested Butte marshals and a Grand Junction-based FBI agent. Stepanek said the FBI agent is called upon to assist in such cases to help locate and examine possible evidence.
No one was arrested and no charges have been filed. The case is still under investigation.
