Titan boys basketball shooting for top three in league

“We have a good combination
of inside and outside”

Titans boys hoops have a lot going for them this season, with some key starters returning from of new additions that could fill the gaps rather nicely.
At least that’s how head coach Brandin Hamilton sees it, and he’s enthusiastic about the team after two weeks of workouts.

“I feel like the way they’re been playing, we’re ahead of where we were at the end of last season,” says Hamilton. “Really good energy and really positive.”
Bill Thompson remains as the JV coach and Hamilton has called upon Eddie Cohn as an assistant varsity coach, bringing some Boston area play to the Titans’ mix.
“I’ve been looking for a varsity assistant coach and he’ll be good,” says Hamilton.
Hamilton admits the level of talent is a bit tenuous though, and he and his coaching staff have plenty of work to do with several players.
“We’re still working some kids through fundamentals,” says Hamilton.
Still, he does have the advantage of Kane Hamilton and Jesse Reeves, who traded off leading the team in scoring last year. Both Reeves and Kane are threats in the paint and on the perimeter, with Kane able to bring some game above the rim as well.
“We have a good combination of inside and outside,” says Hamilton.
Ryan Costello brings additional height inside as well and has a penchant for pulling down key rebounds and draining the occasional mid-range jumper.
“I would love to get 10 [points] and 10 [rebounds] from Ryan,” says Brandin.
It’s what, or rather who, surrounds those three players that could make or break the season. Senior Jet McGuire and juniors Tommy Rainville, Grant Johnson, Clifford Gibbens and Pal Kollar all have a shot at making a difference on the court. Brandin also sees sophomore Joe Hayes as providing key minutes if all turns out as hoped, but it’s still a bit up in the air.
