County fills vacancies on STOR, Planning Commission, TAPP

Encouraging subcommittee participation

By Katherine Nettles

The Gunnison county commissioners appointed several new positions to various boards and commissions for 2020 on February 4, following interviews last week. Laura Puckett Daniels was appointed to the planning commission as a regular member, with Scott Cox and Andy Sovick as alternate members. The planning commission appointments go into effect on February 10.

Kevin Alexander, Dave Ochs, Christie Hicks, and Kimberly Schappert were appointed to the Gunnison County Sustainable Tourism and Outdoor Recreation (STOR) committee. Commissioner John Messner suggested that due to several qualified applicants for that committee and limited seats, those not appointed directly to the STOR committee could be invited to one of its several subcommittees. The board agreed to encourage that in their correspondence with the other candidates.

Kelly Osness and Jennifer Barvitski were appointed to the Tourism and Prosperity Partnership (TAPP). Other appointments were made for a Medical Health officer and to the Cemetery Board, Corrections Board, 7th Judicial Community Corrections Board, Extension Advisory Committee, and the Board of Adjustments and Appeals.
