Games, BBQ and a parade
[ by Than Acuff ]
The Crested Butte Community School Homecoming week is upon us with Spirit Week the entire week and culminating Friday and Saturday, September 23-24 with all fall Titan sports in action at home, a BBQ and a parade.
The Homecoming weekend kicks into high gear starting Friday morning as the high school sports teams will line up out by the elementary playground for the Titan Tunnel at 8:15 a.m. A pep rally will then be held in the high school gym from 2:55-3:30 p.m. Following the pep rally, the community is invited to line Eighth Street from the school to Rainbow Field for the Titan parade and join in while it walks by.
The boy’s varsity soccer team then kicks off against the Telluride Miners at 4 p.m. and the Titan Booster Club will be out grilling up some hot dogs and burgers as a fundraiser. The JV soccer team plays immediately following with the Titans varsity volleyball match starting off against Telluride at 6:15 p.m. back at the high school gym.
But it’s not done yet as Homecoming continues Saturday morning with high school cross-country teams, including our very own Titans, lining up at 3rd and Elk Avenue for their race. The girls race kicks off at 8:30 a.m. and the boys race starts at 9:20 a.m. Emma Coburn’s Elk Run 5k race follows the high school race with the citizen’s and elite race starting at 10:15 a.m. For information regarding the Elk Run 5k, check out elkrun5k.com.
