Living Journeys Summit Hike returns to Mt. Crested Butte this Saturday, July 26

Funds raised support year-round cancer services for Gunnison Valley residents

One of the Gunnison Valley’s most heartfelt summer traditions is back. On Saturday, July 26, the 26th Annual Living Journeys Summit Hike will bring locals and visitors together at Mt. Crested Butte for a powerful day of remembrance, resilience and community — all while raising critical funds for local residents impacted by cancer.

This beloved, family-friendly event welcomes participants of all ages and abilities. Choose your own adventure at the Summit Hike: ride the Silver Queen chairlift and hike the final stretch to the summit; start from the base for a bigger challenge; or simply come to enjoy the views, connect with others and take part in the festive atmosphere at the base.

Registration for the Summit Hike includes a one-time scenic chairlift ride, light breakfast and coffee to start the day, a premium swag bag with this year’s exclusive Summit Hike t-shirt, a catered taco bar lunch, complimentary snacks and beverages, live DJ entertainment and family-friendly activities at the base area hosted by The Trailhead Children’s Museum.

Proceeds from the Summit Hike help fund Living Journeys’ year-round cancer support services, including financial grants, mental health counseling, transportation assistance and home-delivered meals for individuals and families facing a cancer diagnosis. Since 2020, Living Journeys has provided $740,000 in direct financial aid, delivered more than 13,000 boxes of fresh produce and meals and offered over 1,400 hours of therapy to clients in the Gunnison Valley. The need continues to grow — with more than $1.5 million in support requests submitted over the past five years alone.

“The Summit Hike is a chance to experience the beauty of Mt. Crested Butte while standing in solidarity with those impacted by cancer,” says Julie Reid, executive director of Living Journeys. “It’s a meaningful tradition that brings people together in an unforgettable way.”

The weekend also includes the Summit Soirée & Auction on Friday evening, July 25 — a sold-out dinner and fundraising event that gathers 200 guests for an evening of inspiration, community and giving.

Summit Hike tickets are $50 for adults and $35 for kids (12 & under). Online registration is open through Friday, July 25 at livingjourneys.org/summit-hike-2025. Space permitting, on-site registration will be available Saturday morning, July 26, beginning at 7 a.m.

The Summit Hike is not just about raising money: it’s about coming together to uplift and support our friends and neighbors — and to honor those we’ve lost to this terrible disease. However you choose to take part, your presence matters.
