Chamber members to see “slate” of potential board members on ballot

Four out of five people selected

Crested Butte-Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce members will be receiving a ballot via email by the end of this week or early next. It’s not a ballot in the traditional sense but essentially offers up a “slate” of candidates for the membership to approve or reject.

The sitting board selected the proposed slate. Five people’s names were submitted for the four open seats. The proposed slate consists of Ann Johnston from the Crested Butte Land Trust, Kate Haverkampf of Task LLC, Frank Stichter of M3 Insurance Solutions and Andrea Greene from the Ruby of Crested Butte Bed-and-Breakfast. Nick Danni of Shades of Crested Butte had expressed interest but was not selected. All four on the slate would be new to the board.
Under the current bylaws of the chamber, a traditional election is not held. The Chamber will email the slate to members by Friday. Current members comfortable with the slate do not need to take any action. Members can object to the proposal.
If there are no objections, the board will vote at the February 21 board meeting and the new members will be seated at that time. According to interim executive director Tammy Scott, due to the number of continuing items associated with the Chamber, including the hiring of a permanent executive director, the outgoing board members will stay on the board until May 1.
The Chamber has 9 voting seats on the board along with non-voting representatives from the towns of Crested Butte and Mt. Crested Butte.
