June sales tax shows decrease

County-wide tallies for sales tax and Local Marketing District revenue as of June showed decreases from last year. The report showed taxes were down county-wide 5.6% from June 2022.

But county-wide sales taxes are overall up for the year by 5.36% from 2022. That includes Gunnison decreasing by 5%, Crested Butte decreasing by 5.4%, Mt. Crested Butte increasing by 6.1%, Marble decreasing by 23.5%, Pitkin increasing by 43.9% and unincorporated Gunnison County increasing by 19.8% year over year. 

Local Marketing District (LMD) revenues, which are based on a 4% tax on lodging, were down 10.76% for the year overall as of June.
