Local holiday cheer on tap this Saturday

Après with Aaron and Alumni hockey game

With the holiday season on tap, two local events stand out as a chance to get together with old friends, community members and families, and both come on Saturday, December 23.

The first is a new addition to the host of community parties, Après with Aaron.

Last year, Aaron Blunck hosted Après with Aaron during the holiday season, using the opportunity to bring the community together and raise money for local nonprofits Living Journeys and the Crested Butte Avalanche Center.

Given the success of that first iteration, Aaron is back this year to host Après with Aaron on Saturday at the Elevation Hotel starting at 3:30 p.m. Aaron will be there to sign posters, there will be a movie featuring Aaron and the Head Freeski team, drink specials from Epic Western and a silent auction and prize giveaway.

Tickets for the event are $15 and can be purchased at the door, through Aaron Blunck’s social media or by clicking the QR code on posters throughout town. You can also find it on Eventbrite. Proceeds from the event will go to Living Journeys and the Smaine Fund, a fund set up in memory of Aaron’s friend Kyle Smaine that provides financial assistance to young athletes in need.

Once you’re done there, head directly to Big Mine Ice Arena in town for the annual Alumni hockey game at 5:30 p.m. It’s a time-honored tradition and there’s no better way to share some holiday cheer than rink side watching the Alumni trying to avenge their losses from the past two years running.

The event also includes a puck toss, so purchase a puck at the game for a shot at winning a cash prize between the second and third periods. Proceeds to benefit the Titans high school hockey program.
