CB South election soon

Four POA board candidates, four open seats and one other item to vote on

By Katherine Nettles

The Crested Butte South Property Owner’s Association (POA) will hold a vote on board members and on how to handle hypothetical excess membership dues in an election next month, and the vote is looking uncontested at this point with four candidates for four open board seats. Three current board members (Scott Clarkson, Sue Schappert and Hannah Lang) are running again, and Theresa Truettner is running as a new candidate. With four candidates for four slots, they all look likely to be seated at the table of the seven-member board.

There is one other item in the vote, which is a requirement for the membership to vote on what to do with excess funds from dues (which never happens but is required by state statue). A short-term rental (STR) covenant amendment will come as a separate vote later in the fall, according to POA manager Derek Harwell.

Voting starts on August 1 and runs through August 15. Members can look for an email ballot in their inboxes on August 1. After a regular board meeting on Wednesday, August 14, the annual meeting and announcement of voting results along with the annual picnic will be held on Saturday, August 24.
