CB Nordic team closing down this year’s season

Truettner and Martineau fine tuning for Junior Nationals

Crested Butte Nordic hosted the Rocky Mountain Nordic Championships February 28 and March 1, bringing a close to the season for the younger racers in the division and allowing Crested Butte Nordic team (CBNT) athletes Woody Martineau and Aiden Truettner to continue their preparations for the upcoming Junior Nationals.
“It’s really a chance for the kids to ski one more race and for the kids not old enough to go to Junior Nationals to have a championship event,” says CBNT head coach Austin Ross.
The two-day Nordic race weekend opened on Saturday with a classic race up on the Bench on Ruthie’s Run. The younger racers raced a three-kilometer distance while the older skiers tackled a five-kilometer course. Both Truettner and Martineau won their age divisions with Ben Swift placing second and Nate Hoskin third. The younger CBNT athletes had great results as well, getting their first taste of the racing world.
