Council at the ready for Jingles

No qualms about calling an emergency meeting if needed. Jingles is sponsored!

At the request of Shelley Jansen, Crested Butte town clerk, at least four members of the council said they would be available for an emergency Town Council meeting in late April if needed. The issue? Jingles’ birthday party.

The town’s favorite celebrity feline that resides at the True Value is celebrating his ninth birthday on May 4 and the party applied for a special event liquor license. The notice will be posted for ten days but if there were any citizens’ concerns, the license application would have to be heard in front of the council. The next regular council meeting isn’t scheduled until May 5.
So Jansen asked if there would be council members in town in case an emergency meeting is needed due to concerns that would require a hearing.
“It’s for Jingles!” Jansen implored the board. “They told me he even has a beer sponsor for the party this year. They are going legit.”
PAWS is the official non-profit applicant for the special event liquor license. Understanding the significance of the situation, a majority of the council shuffled their calendars to be on call in case they are needed on Wednesday, April 30 at 6 p.m. At least four council members promised they would be in town if needed for Jingles.
In the meantime, if there are no glitches, expect another good party at True Value on Sunday, May 4 with food, beer and fun to celebrate Jingles. Bristol Brewery will be the official beer sponsor. There will be a band playing as well as events for the kids. Proceeds from a raffle held during the Jingles party, along with t-shirt sales, will go to PAWS.
