Red Lady ready for chairlift rides and bike hauls

[  By Kendra Walker  ]

This weekend, the mountain will once again buzz with activity as Crested Butte Mountain Resort officially opens for summer operations. From peak hikes and singletrack, to kids’ camps and live music, the base area is poised for an eventful 2022 summer season.

Starting June 11, mountain bikers and hikers will once again have daily access to the Red Lady Express lift for bike hauls and scenic chairlift rides. The opening of the Silver Queen Express lift for hiking and peak access will be delayed until June 18, as it is undergoing some final lift maintenance work.

The Adventure Park will offer a variety of activities, including rock climbing, bungee trampolines, gem panning and more. Butte 66 will be open at the base for food service, as well as the Umbrella Bar at Ten Peaks.

Camp CB and the Crested Butte Mountain Resort Summer Camp will run Monday through Friday starting on June 13, offering both on and off mountain activities for kids ages 5-8 and 7-14. The Mountain Adventures and Mini Riders daily mountain biking programs will also be available. CBMR has also partnered with CB Devo for all upper-level youth programming.

Then starting on Friday, July 1, CBMR is bringing back Twilight Hours every Friday in July from 5-7 p.m. for extended bike park riding. Guests with a day ticket or pass can continue riding through the evening, and folks will have the option to purchase a discounted $39 bike haul ticket to use from 4-7 p.m. Twilight Hours will also be available on Monday, July 4 for the Fourth of July holiday.

The ‘Live! At Mt. Crested Butte’ Wednesday concert series will take place every Wednesday evening at the Red Lady Stage from June 29 to August 17. For the music lineup schedule, visit mtcbmusic.com.

Other local events returning this summer include the Pinnacle Mountain Bike Race Series, Fourth of July celebration with a laser show instead of fireworks and the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce’s Chili & Beer Festival on September 10.

CBMR will be open daily from June 11 to September 5, then on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays from September 9 to 25. Bike rentals and summer season passes are now for sale on CBMR’s website, www.skicb.com.
