Mountain trails and activities back in action

Starting this Saturday, June 13, official summer operations and activities will be in full swing at Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR), as the mountain kicks off opening day with DJ Mijo and an official banner break at the Red Lady Express at 9 a.m.

The resort will be open for daily operations through September 7, then on weekends only through September 27, conditions permitting. The mountain will also offer Twilight Hours every Wednesday and Friday from June 24 through August 14 for extended bike hauls and scenic ride access on the Red Lady Express until 7 p.m. and the Adventure Park staying open until 6:30 p.m.

“Between scenic lift rides, Adventure Park activities, hikes to the summit of Mt. CB, and of course, mountain biking for riders of all ages and abilities, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic summer at CBMR!” said CBMR communications manager Katie Lyons.

Lyons said it has been a busy off-season as the mountain crews prep for summer. “Our trail crew teams have been hard at work rerouting and rebuilding trails, removing debris from the winter and spring seasons and putting finishing touches on trail features to get them in great shape for the summer riding season,” she said. “One of the most notable projects completed this spring was replacing the Red Lady Express haul rope, a major undertaking that required months of planning and coordination by our lift maintenance team to help ensure the continued reliability and performance of this lift. We’re really proud of the work our teams accomplish behind the scenes each year, and we look forward to welcoming guests back to enjoy the results of these improvements throughout the summer season.”

Lyons noted that while there are no major new additions debuting for the 2026 summer season, several trail enhancements that were introduced during the mid- to late-summer 2025 season are now fully integrated into CBMR’s summer trail network. These include the new advanced multi-use Fangorn trail that travels through the Paradise and East River zones, and the beginner-friendly Upper Awakening trail designed for new riders and adaptive athletes.

Other additions for expert riders include a “whale tail” jump feature near the bottom of the Tower Four Trail and updated trail features on Timeline, including an 8-foot drop, a 20-foot gap jump and a 20-foot step-down feature.

CBMR will once again host its downhill and cross-country bike race series this season on select Thursday and Friday evenings for those looking for some friendly competition. There will also be opportunities to catch live music on the mountain throughout the summer, including at the base area Wednesday evenings from June 24 through August 12 for the Live! at Mt. Crested Butte free concerts series, and the Tunes at Ten Peaks Sunday concert series from mid-July through mid-September.

“We’re excited to welcome both our local community and visitors back for summer at Crested Butte Mountain Resort,” said CBMR VP and general manager JD Crichton. From our Wednesday night concerts, twilight and lift-served biking to our scenic summit peak hike and mountain dining, summer offers something for everyone to enjoy together.”
