A 24-year-old Crested Butte man was pronounced dead on Tuesday, December 29 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction. Crested Butte marshals and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded to a call to Cameron Corn’s apartment at 712 Gothic Avenue Monday morning at about 11 a.m.
Dispatch said a woman called in the emergency and said she was performing CPR on Corn.
“We arrived at the scene within minutes of the call,” said Crested Butte Fire Protection District EMS coordinator Mike Scott. “We took over and began our cardiac arrest protocol. He didn’t have a pulse when we arrived but we were able to get one.”
According to Crested Butte chief marshal Tom Martin, Corn was then transported to Gunnison Valley Hospital and airlifted to St. Mary’s. “The manner of death is still under investigation but there is no suspicious activity involved,” he said.
Gunnison County coroner Frank Vader said the cause of death is still undetermined at this time and is under investigation.
According to friends and co-workers, Corn was a very well liked individual who worked as sound technician at both the Crested Butte Center for the Arts and the Eldo Brewery.
