Gunnison Valley Health Hospice and Living Journeys are joining forces to offer a free 10-week bereavement support group this winter, designed to provide healing and connection for community members navigating the loss of a loved one.
The program will take place weekly on Mondays, January 13 through March 24, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at Oh Be Joyful Church, 625 Maroon Avenue, Crested Butte.
This group creates a safe and compassionate space for participants to share their experiences and find support among peers. The program is open to all situations, regardless of whether the loss is cancer or hospice related. Led by Dawn Stewart, LSW and Hannah Lang, CTRS, MA, the sessions will help attendees process grief in a meaningful and guided manner.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Living Journeys for their invaluable support of our hospice and bereavement team. Hospice professionals are true experts in the healing and grieving process, offering a lifeline to community members navigating the profound loss of a loved one through compassionate support groups,” Jenny Birnie, vice president of community health and development at Gunnison Valley Health, emphasized the importance of this initiative. “This partnership enhances our ability to serve everyone in our community affected by cancer. GVH deeply appreciates Living Journeys’ commitment to making a difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Julie Reid, executive director of Living Journeys, commented, “We are honored to partner with Gunnison Valley Health to provide a bereavement support group that offers a safe and compassionate space for individuals navigating loss. Together, we aim to bring hope and healing to our community.”
