Meet and greet in April
The Crested Butte Town Council has whittled the list of applicants for the town manager position to four. That list includes two locals living here now; Gunnison Valley Rural Transportation Authority executive director Scott Truex and Crested Butte Parks and Recreation director Jake Jones made the cut.
The other two candidates live outside the county. They include Todd Crossett who is the current city manager of Polson, Montana and Charles Wright who serves in the roles of Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for the Kroenke Group and Kroenke Sports Enterprises.
The four candidates will be in town together the second week of April. Sometime on April 10, 11 or 12 they will be introduced to the public for a “meet-and-greet” session, during which citizens will be able to ask them questions. The seven-member Town Council will also grill each candidate in person sometime in that period. Other details are still being worked out.
A citizen’s panel may be formed to interview the candidates and a staff panel will likely do an interview. The council budgeted money for the non-resident candidates to travel into Crested Butte for the final interviews.
The remaining four have one more round to go on this long trip of “Crested Butte Survivor” before a lone person is selected to manage the town. That decision is expected to come in mid-April, with a start date before June 1.
